But Yehovaw commanded them to conduct that celebration by sacrificing a lamb and eating its flesh, along with the unleavened bread that their hasty departure required, which became a sacred ritual among them, "by an ordinance for ever"! (Exodus 12:14) In anticipation of the day when the children of Israel would occupy the land Yehovaw had promised them, He added another stipulation to His commandment concerning the Passover; He said, through Moses:
"The place where the Lord shall choose to place His name there" (Deuteronomy 16:2) would prove to be His temple in Jerusalem! He said, through Moses:
The "burnt offerings" of the children of Israel were to be made "upon the altar that is by the door of the Tabernacle of the Congregation" (Leviticus 1:4 to 9), which eventually became their temple in Jerusalem! (2nd Chronicles 23:10) Yehovaw was quite insistant concerning where His Passover was to be celebrated; He said, through Moses:
But the temple or "the place where the Lord thy God shall choose to place His name in" (Deuteronomy 16:6) was destroyed by the Romans in 70 A.D., making it impossible for the Jews to sacrifice anything any more! I point this out simply to show that the present day annual observance of the Passover that is conducted by the Jews in their homes is contrary to Yehovaw's toraw or law and thus void of His blessing in it, which would not be so devastating to them, if their rabbis had not taught them to disregard the teaching and example of Yehoshua, Who on the night before the Passover, which under Yehovaw's toraw is the first part of that day, gave His disciples a cup of wine, saying:
"Remission" is a King James translation of a word meaning "forgiveness"! (Strong: Greek: 859) Being well taught in His toraw or law, Yehovaw's disciples through Yehoshua were aware that the only provision He had ever given for forgiving the children of Israel was by their bringing a lamb for a "sin offering". (Numbers 15:27)
Before that day of the Passover was over, Yehoshua was crucified as "the lamb of God, who taketh away the sin of the world" (John 1:29), of whom Yehovaw wrote, through His author:
Yehovaw prayed, to Yehovaw the Father:
Refusing to accept the truth that Yehoshua taught and what he did on the cross to fulfill it (Matthew 5:17), the unbelieving Jews denied themselves that sanctification, which Yehoshua obtained "once, in the end of the world" (Hebrews 9:26), not needing to repeat Himself, as did the High Priest of the children of Israel "every year with blood of others"! (Hebrews 9:25) So, when Yehovaw removed, from the children of Israel, His temple, which was the only place where they could make their sacrifices of lambs for the atonement He had offered them in His old covenant (Leviticus 17:11), they were left without any recourse but to accept by faith Yehoshua's fulfilling of that atonement (Matthew 5:17), with His own body and blood (Matthew 26:28), "for many for the remission of sins"! (Verse 28) Yehovaw wrote, through His faithful apostle:
That provision is more than sufficient to cover one's need for Yehovaw's atonement and forgiveness, which is now available to all who will qualify themselves to be children of Israel, that availability's being through His "New Covenant with the House of Israel"! (Jeremiah 31:31; Matthew 26:28) But it all began clear back with Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden! Amen! Alleluia!
