To spend time together, one must have a time and a place in which to do so. Yehovaw's commanded time is His Sabbath, on which His children are to hold "an holy convocation" (Leviticus 23:3) or the calling of a meeting! (Strong: Hebrew: 4744) The word "church" as used by Yehovaw through Yeshuaw (Matthew 16:18) is a king James translation of a word also meaning the calling of a meeting. (Strong: Greek: 1577) So the argument used by some that the church is all of Yeshuaw's followers wherever they may be found is not quite accurate! It is where they are found meeting together, which is the fulfillment of Yehovaw's commandment that they love their neighbors! (Leviticus 19:18; Matthew 22:39) Yeshuaw declared that Yehovaw's commandments that his children love Him (Deuteronomy 6:5; Matthew 22:37) is "the first and great commandment" (Verse 38), his commandment that they love their neighbor (Leviticus 19:18; Mattthew 22:39) being "like unto it" (Verse 39); and He finalized that declaration by saying:
Then Yehovaw said, through Yeshuaw:
In that passage, Yehovaw was talking, through Yeshuaw, about His "eternal lif"! (Matthew 19:16) So the "two commandments" (Matthew 22:40) upon which "hang all the law and the prophets" (Verse 40) must be seen as critically important to one's eternal welfare! And, since being a part of Yehovaw's church is the fullest expression of one's obedience to those commandments, one's being a part of that church takes on a great significance as well! Amen! Alleluia! Since Yehovaw's church is so important to remaining in His favor, I have dutifully written a free ebooklet on that topic, which you can order by simply asking for it, giving the title and catalog number of this page with the email address given below! |
